Taipei, Taiwan –
At Computex Taipei 2006,Worldteck'shas on show the new SD 2.0 and 8GB
CompactFlash 150X card. The shift in SD card specification from 1.0/ 1.1
to the new SD 2.0 set by SDA is expected to happen in third quarter,
this year. The selling point of this new specification is it's enormous
maximum 32GB capacity which give handheld digital devices expansion room
and a breath of fresh air.
By supporting FAT32 format, the SD 2.0 cards have a maximum capacity of
32GB and it's transfer rates are classified into Class 2 (2MB/sec),
Class 4 (4MB/sec) and Class 6 (6MB/sec). For SD 2.0 capacities 2GB and
less are all backwards compatible with SD 1.0/ 1.1 specifications. When
capacities reach 4GB and above, the new SD 2.0 cards will be named SD
High Capacity (SDHC) by SDA. A 4GB SDHC is on show at PQI's booth at
Computex. Worldteck's plans to induct SD, miniSD and microSD productions
into SD 2.0 specifications in the near future.
